Blessing House in Thailand

Rev. Mike Morrissey visited our church and shared information about his ministry in Thailand. He is a part of the “Pioneering Pastor’s Program” and their mission is to plant churches in unreached Sub districts in Thailand. There are 11 Sub districts in his area, which covers 115 villages and 80,000 people. They use a rural community center for worship and children’s programs.

Rev. Morrissey is traveling and speaking in the United States to raise money for Blessing Home. Blessing Home is a ministry of Life Center United Methodist Church, which provides food, clothing, education, medical care, and Christian nurture to sixty-four children in Pattaya. Pattaya is the epicenter of child trafficking in Southeast Asia, so this ministry seeks to save these children from those who seek to enslave them. Blessing Home is truly a life saving mission center.

Blessing Home is located in Chonburi province, which is the first province east of Bangkok. The province has been absorbing the inflow of a massive wave of refugees, most of whom are the impoverished masses that do not have resources to handle emergencies. Without employment, they are dependent upon help from relief organizations and government aid, both of which are in very limited supply.

They currently rent space for this endeavor, but are unable to care for the children overnight. If they can purchase a building, they can serve the children and keep them safe from predators. The children are lured into the sex trade and drug trafficking at a very young age. They use children as young as 2 years old from the slums as drug “mules” because they know the authorities won’t bother with them. The children in the Blessing Home receive an education, food for themselves and their families and medical care. A commitment is made to the children until they are 18 years old.
